The DJ Booking Dilema

There has been a marked change in the time scale over the past few years at the time period where clients perceive they can book their entertainment. We regularly receive last minute calls to cover gigs and they come with a catalogue of reasons.

My DJ Let Me Down

The most common cause is the previously booked DJ has taken an alternative function and if there hasn’t been a contract issued then both parties are at fault. The structure is simple and after the initial enquiry the DJ should forward a quotation along with either a link or an enclosed document to make the formal booking.

On receipt of the booking form and any booking fees due, the DJ should then send back an acknowledgment of the booking in line with their terms and conditions which the client should have read.

However if you turn this around people who book a DJ only do this a few times in their life so the very concept of contracts and reliability is probably one of the last things on their mind.

Who Is To Blame?

This article is not intended as a blame game but errors do happen from both parties and with a little forethought theses errors can be avoided. We are aware of incidents where clients have made provisional bookings, believed them to be firm and consequently been let down.

Personally we believe the DJ should drive this forward and guide the client through the procedures which will ultimately deliver them a professional service.

If they can’t are you booking a professional?
